… guitar while I was visiting Sydney some time in the mid 80s – I was living in Perth at the time. I bought it simply because it was the best sounding Stratocaster I had ever heard (serial number 56051).
A couple of mates that were with me when I bought it were saying “are you mad you could buy 4 new ones for that price”. It wasn’t cheap but you never regret buying the best. It’s all over The Atlantics albums that I have played on and was used extensively on the Surfersaurus album. This is the guitar you’ll usually see me playing live.
Fender did get it right from the beginning and numerous re issues and tributes have been based 
on this design with great success and I suspect will do for many years to come.
